New Delhi, May 21, 2025 — Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the ruling party in West Bengal of "anti-Hindu brutality." The remarks came in response to a fact-finding committee report that has brought to light serious allegations of targeted violence and communal discrimination in the state.
Addressing the media, Trivedi said, “The findings of the committee expose the deliberate marginalization and violence against the Hindu community under the TMC regime. This is not just a law-and-order failure, but a systematic campaign to suppress the voice of the majority."
Fact-Finding Report Highlights
The BJP-constituted fact-finding committee, formed in the wake of recent incidents of violence in West Bengal, has documented several cases of alleged atrocities against Hindus. According to the report, the violence was not spontaneous but orchestrated, with clear political and communal undertones.
The committee has claimed that local authorities and law enforcement agencies failed to act impartially, often turning a blind eye to the suffering of Hindu victims. The report details instances of property destruction, physical assaults, and threats allegedly meted out to members of the Hindu community, particularly those aligned with opposition parties.
BJP Demands Central Intervention
Calling the revelations “deeply disturbing,” Trivedi demanded immediate central intervention to restore law and order in West Bengal. He urged the Union Government to take note of what he called a "systemic collapse of governance and justice" in the state.
“The report is a wake-up call. If this kind of targeted brutality is allowed to continue, it sets a dangerous precedent for democracy and communal harmony in India,” he added.
TMC Responds
The TMC leadership has refuted the allegations, calling the BJP's claims politically motivated and aimed at polarizing voters ahead of upcoming elections. TMC spokespersons argue that the report lacks credibility, as it was prepared by a politically affiliated body rather than an independent or judicial authority.
Rising Political Tensions
The release of this report is expected to intensify the already charged political atmosphere in West Bengal, where BJP has been trying to expand its base in recent years. Allegations of religious and political bias have been a flashpoint between the two parties, with both sides accusing each other of divisive politics.
