Tokyo/New Delhi, May 22, 2025 – In a significant diplomatic engagement underscoring India-Japan strategic ties, India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, briefed a visiting Indian Parliamentary delegation in Tokyo, emphasizing Japan’s prompt and strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
During the interaction, the Indian envoy lauded Japan for being among the first nations to express solidarity with India following the tragic incident in which several Indian security personnel and civilians lost their lives. The Pahalgam terror attack, which shook the nation earlier this month, has drawn widespread international condemnation.
The envoy’s remarks came as part of a broader diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, a campaign designed to enhance global support and solidarity in the fight against terrorism and promote India's cultural and strategic narratives worldwide.
Ambassador Sibi George noted, “Japan’s immediate and unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam attack reflects the depth of our bilateral relationship and shared commitment to global peace and security.”
The visiting MP delegation, comprising members from various political parties, expressed appreciation for the Japanese government’s support and reiterated India's dedication to strengthening its global partnerships to combat terrorism in all its forms.
The briefing also covered key areas of India-Japan cooperation, including technology, infrastructure, defense, and people-to-people ties. Discussions were held on enhancing collaboration through joint initiatives and deepening economic and cultural engagement.
This visit forms part of ongoing efforts to showcase India’s evolving global stature and to build consensus among international partners in condemning terrorism and supporting democratic values. Japan remains one of India's most trusted allies in the Indo-Pacific region, and both nations have reiterated their resolve to work together to ensure regional stability and security.
