Bhopal, May 19, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a major women’s convention in Bhopal on May 31, 2025, as part of the 300th birth anniversary celebrations of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, a legendary 18th-century queen renowned for her visionary leadership and social reforms.
The announcement was made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who said that PM Modi’s participation in this historic event is a matter of pride for the state. The convention will be held at Jamboree Ground in Bhopal and is expected to witness the participation of thousands of women from across the state.
Honoring Ahilyabai Holkar's Legacy
The event aims to honor the legacy of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, celebrated for her contributions to good governance, public welfare, and promotion of spirituality and culture. As part of the celebrations, the BJP has launched a 10-day awareness campaign from May 21 to May 31, highlighting her inspiring life and achievements.
Boosting Women Empowerment Initiatives
The women’s convention will also showcase the state government's commitment to women's empowerment through flagship schemes like the Ladli Behna Yojana. Under this initiative, financial assistance is being provided directly to women, with over ₹1,551 crore recently transferred to the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women across Madhya Pradesh.
Infrastructure Development: Indore Metro Launch
In addition to the women-centric event, PM Modi is expected to virtually inaugurate the Indore Metro’s Priority Corridor, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing urban connectivity. The corridor will initially run between Gandhi Nagar and Station No. 3, signaling progress in public transport modernization.
