Tripura CM Manik Saha Distributes Appointment Letters to Newly Selected Food Inspectors

Agartala, May 21, 2025In a significant stride toward strengthening the food safety framework in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha distributed appointment letters to newly selected Food Inspectors in an official ceremony held today. The event marks a major milestone in the state government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring public health and food quality standards across the region.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Saha congratulated the newly appointed officials and emphasized their critical role in safeguarding the health of citizens. “Food safety is a cornerstone of public health. With the appointment of new Food Inspectors, we aim to bolster monitoring mechanisms and ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations throughout the state,” he said.

The recruitment drive, initiated by the state government, aimed at filling essential posts in the Food Safety Department, is part of a broader administrative reform to enhance governance and public service delivery in Tripura. These appointments are expected to significantly improve surveillance and regulatory actions against food adulteration and unhygienic practices.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of diligence, integrity, and commitment to public welfare in discharging duties. “I urge all new inspectors to work transparently and uphold the trust of the people. Your actions directly impact the health and well-being of our citizens,” he added.

This move comes at a time when food safety has become a pressing concern nationwide, with growing awareness about the quality of food being consumed. The newly recruited inspectors will undergo rigorous training and be deployed across various districts to ensure uniform implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

State officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department, along with senior bureaucrats, were present at the ceremony. The event also featured interactive sessions with the new recruits, focusing on the responsibilities and ethical standards expected from government officers.

Strengthening Food Safety Infrastructure in Tripura

The state government has consistently focused on enhancing food safety infrastructure, including the modernization of testing labs and increasing on-ground surveillance. With this new batch of Food Inspectors, Tripura aims to set a benchmark in food quality monitoring and compliance enforcement.

The appointments are seen as part of Tripura’s broader vision to promote good governance, improve service delivery, and ensure that development reaches every corner of the state. It also reflects the government’s resolve to create employment opportunities while improving essential public services.
