New Delhi | May 17, 2025 — Janata Dal (United) senior leader KC Tyagi has welcomed the central government's decision to send an all-party delegation to key strategic partner countries, calling it a "positive and inclusive step" towards enhancing India’s global diplomatic ties and foreign policy consensus.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Tyagi praised the Centre for taking a bipartisan approach to foreign engagement. “I welcome the central government’s decision to include all political parties in the foreign delegation. It reflects the maturity of Indian democracy and strengthens our image on the global stage,” said the veteran JD(U) leader.
Promoting Bipartisanship in Foreign Policy
The move to include representatives from various political parties — across ideological lines — aims to build national consensus on international strategic priorities. The delegation is expected to visit several key partner countries in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East to engage on matters related to trade, security, climate change, and global cooperation.
“The involvement of all major parties shows India’s unity on global matters. It will help in presenting a collective voice on issues that affect our national interest,” Tyagi added.
Key Countries on the Agenda
Although the exact list of nations has not been officially disclosed, government sources indicate that the delegation will visit countries with whom India shares deep economic and strategic ties. These may include long-standing allies and emerging partners with whom enhanced collaboration is crucial in the current geopolitical context.
The visit is part of a broader diplomatic strategy to reinforce India's role as a global player while ensuring that domestic political consensus is maintained on key international policies.
Opposition’s Role Acknowledged
The JD(U) leader also emphasized the importance of opposition participation in shaping India’s foreign relations. “National interest must always be above party lines. The delegation will send a strong message of unity to the world,” he said.
Conclusion
The all-party delegation move has garnered praise from several political quarters and is seen as a step towards reinforcing democratic values and inclusive governance in foreign policy.
