Hisar, May 20, 2025 — In a startling development, Hisar-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested on serious charges of espionage, with central agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and military intelligence launching a high-level investigation into her alleged links with Pakistani intelligence.
Malhotra, 33, who ran the popular YouTube travel channel Travel with JO, was taken into custody from the New Aggarsain Extension area of Hisar on May 16. According to police officials, she is accused of spying for Pakistan, a charge that has sent shockwaves through local and digital communities alike.
A senior Haryana Police officer confirmed that the central agencies are now scrutinizing Malhotra’s travel history, particularly her visits to Pakistan, China, and other countries in recent years. Her financial transactions and online communications are also under the scanner as investigators work to uncover any possible foreign connections or suspicious funding sources.
“We are cooperating with national intelligence agencies. Several of her international trips are under review, and we are working to establish whether she had any unauthorized or covert links with foreign operatives,” said the officer, requesting anonymity.
Military intelligence officials have also joined the probe, signaling the gravity of the case. Sources suggest Malhotra may have accessed and transmitted sensitive information, though official details remain classified due to national security concerns.
Malhotra, who cultivated a significant online following with her travel vlogs, portrayed herself as an independent content creator exploring cultures and destinations. Her sudden arrest has left her viewers and the local community in disbelief.
As of now, neither the NIA nor the IB has issued a formal statement, but insiders hint that more arrests or leads may follow, depending on the outcome of the ongoing interrogation.
This case underscores the increasing vigilance of Indian intelligence agencies against cyber and cross-border threats, especially in an era where digital influencers often travel extensively and gain access to restricted areas under the guise of content creation.
