Embracing the Theme: 'One World for Health'
Aligning with this year's WHA theme, 'One World for Health,' PM Modi emphasized the necessity of inclusion, integrated vision, and collaboration in building a healthier world. He reiterated India's vision for global health, stating that the future depends on how well we care for the most vulnerable populations.
India's Scalable Health Initiatives
PM Modi spotlighted India's Ayushman Bharat scheme, the world's largest health insurance program, covering 580 million people and providing free treatment. He noted the recent expansion of the program to include all Indians above the age of 70. Additionally, he highlighted India's extensive network of Health and Wellness Centres, which facilitate early screening and detection of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and hypertension.
Contributions to Global Health
The Prime Minister acknowledged India's role in global health through initiatives like Vaccine Maitri, which provided COVID-19 vaccines to numerous countries, and the establishment of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
