The tremor occurred at 3:15 PM IST at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located at latitude 17.06°N and longitude 89.62°E.
The seismic event was situated offshore and did not result in any immediate reports of damage or casualties. Coastal regions, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, remain on alert, but no tsunami warnings have been issued.
This earthquake follows a series of recent seismic activities in the region. On May 19, a stronger magnitude 5.1 earthquake was recorded near Manaung Island in Myanmar. Experts suggest that these events may be linked to tectonic movements along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian plates.
