Kolkata, May 19, 2025 — In a historic achievement, West Bengal Police Constable Lakshmikanta Mandal has successfully climbed Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, marking a moment of pride for the state and the nation. Mandal was part of a unique team that included an Indian woman mountaineer and a visually impaired woman climber from Nepal, making the expedition even more inspiring.
Mandal, who serves in the 3rd battalion of the West Bengal State Armed Police, is currently assigned as a personal security guard to Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Varma. His feat underscores the extraordinary capabilities and courage of India's law enforcement personnel.
